Animal Control
Animal Control Officer - Joshua Barnes 313-1383 or aco@chinamaine.org.
The Town of China has a contract with Kennebec Valley Humane Society in Augusta to take our stray animals.
Please remember that all dogs 6 months of age and older must be registered by January 1st of each year. All dogs need to have had a current Maine rabies shot in order to be licensed. The registration fee for spayed or neutered dogs is $6.00. If the dog has not been fixed, the fee is $11.00. Dogs not licensed by January 31st are subject to an additional $25.00 late fee. You may be summonsed to court if you fail to respond to the first warning by the Animal Control Officer to register your dog.

Community Spay-Neuter Clinic of Topsham will bring back its low-cost clinics to Waterville starting Thurs, Oct. 24. Regular Thursday clinics will be offered for low-income cat owners who are otherwise unable to afford this service. This is the same veterinary team that previously conducted clinics at the Humane Society of the Waterville Area, according to a news release from the clinic.
People can call the clinic Monday through Wednesday at 721-8395 to schedule an appointment for day surgery at the new satellite location at 100 Pleasant St., in Waterville. Vaccination and other wellness services are available at the time of surgery.
